The awakening tide

As Santa sauntered sated as a schoolboy
And friends, and foes fasted and feasted
The poor biting bitter bulbs and berries
The affluent belching buttered brown bread and brawn
Some sitting, some standing, some strolling on sandy shores
Others, splashing or swimming to slay simmering steam
A seismic shocker seized and stirred Bengal Bay Sea
Provoking a ruthless monster that rushed ashore (hushed)
Sweeping and swingeing with a spiteful swash
Bursting banks and breaking barriers
Flooding fields with a furious force
Butchering brothers and slaying sisters
Murdering mothers and felling fathers
Awakening the power of humanity within us.
